September 13, 2018 @ 9:15 am - 4:00 pm

A West-Midlands conference aiming to shine a light on mental health in the workplace is being hosted on 13 September.

Health and wellbeing provider BHSF, is holding the ‘Mental health from all angles’ conference at the conveniently located Chateau Impney Hotel and Exhibition Centre, Droitwich Spa, just off the M5.

The conference will provide occupational health and HR professionals with an up-to-date overview of mental health in the workplace, focusing on assessment right through to diagnosis and treatments, old and new.

Advice will be offered on how employers can best detect mental health issues early on, with detailed discussion of intervention and prevention strategies. Attendees will also hear about the legal aspects of mental health in the workplace, with attention paid to employment tribunals.

This conference provides occupational health and HR professionals with practical advice and tips to take away, as well as the opportunity for an open discussion around two personal experiences from guest speakers.

This is the third occupational health conference for BHSF. The annual event aims to provide those in the industry with guidance and best practice information, as well as a fresh approach to the issues that businesses across the UK are facing.

The conference is recommended for occupational health clinicians, who will receive five CPD points, approved by the Faculty of Occupational Medicine, for attending. Colleagues in HR are also being urged to attend in order to gain a fresh insight into the spiralling workplace mental health problem, from a collection of experts in the field.

Attendees will hear from seven key speakers in the industry, and the conference is set to deliver a powerful insight into the world of workplace mental health.

Speakers include, Dr Meetu Singh Sonsati, the renowned Consultant Psychiatrist and Managing Director of independent mental health and wellbeing service, The Oaktree Clinic.

Also speaking is Caroline Sidell, Managing Director of Corporate Wellbeing. Caroline has written health and wellbeing resources for the likes of Team GB and the Olympic and Paralympic Association.

Dr Philip McCrea, Chief Medical Officer at BHSF, who has over 28 years’ experience in the industry, will be speaking about the importance of early intervention strategies.

He says: “Building on the success of our two previous conferences, we have sought to shine a light on the issue of mental health in the workplace.

“Everybody has a role to play in ensuring that employees are given the care and support that they need while at work. I would urge both occupational health clinicians and those working in HR to join us on 13 September to gain an insight into the mental health challenges that employees can face, to help us advance conversations, and ensure the best care and support is available for employees at the point of need”.

The conference costs £175 +VAT to attend, and will run from 09:15-16:00.
