Arthritis Care’s fundraising team triumphs in the Third Sector Awards

Arthritis Care’s successful fundraisers have been named Fundraising Team of the Year, at the prestigious Third Sector Awards.

The award recognises the success of the team and the challenges it has had to overcome in recent years. Following a period of declining donations, the team led by Director of Fundraising Di Gornall, has turned things around since her arrival, and are now seeing a growth in donations for the first time in ten years.

Through hard work and innovative fundraising approaches, the team have successfully launched new projects, including the hitting a £60,000 target for the London Marathon, developing the fundraising sections of the website to make it easier for people to donate, securing two significant grants from Big Lottery and Alliance Scotland, and developing a new donor recruitment drive to increase the number of people giving money to the charity.

The growth in donations is directly helping the charity to increase its capacity to support people with arthritis. As a result of the successful fundraising activity, Arthritis Care is able to continue offering its free helpline service, provide information booklets on a range of topics from working with arthritis to managing pain, an online forum and activities weekends for young people with arthritis.

Di Gornall, Director of Fundraising and Development, said:

“We’re delighted to have received this award which recognises the challenges we’ve overcome. The growth in donations we’re now receiving will ensure Arthritis Care can continue to provide a lifeline for all people with the condition.”

The Third Sector Awards are held annually and recognise the achievements of organisations and individuals across the charity sector.
