Auriga expands team with two senior appointments

Two new senior appointments have been confirmed by Auriga Services, the Sutton-Coldfield-based public benefit entity which assists vulnerable families who struggle to pay their energy bills, as part of its strategic development.

David Woakes is the new Business Development Director, while HR specialist Clare Fleming becomes People Director.

David has worked in a wide variety of sectors, including engineering, technology, recruitment and project management. For a number of years David ran his own consultancy specialising in major business development strategies and business partnerships.

He said: “Business development is all about the art of relationships and adding value so as well as getting out to win new contracts I will be looking to work with the team to develop their knowledge and approach. I also want to progress opportunities to establish leading edge support programmes across existing and new sectors.”

In addition to being heavily involved in cricket, David also supports Acorns Children’s Hospice and is an enterprise advisor for Walsall College. He also works with the Aston Villa Foundation and supports charitable projects organised by Warwickshire Cricket Club.

Clare, who lives in Staffordshire, has worked in Human Resources (HR) for more than 20 years, including a five year period when she ran her own business. She said: “As we spend so much time at work the ‘people experience’ in the workplace is so important to enable people to be the best version of themselves. As such, the change of name from HR to People in my profession is a deliberate reflection of that.

“I’m excited to bring everything I have learned over the last 20 years to a company like Auriga, which has such an important role in society.”

David adds: “Currently we are helping, on average, 1,800 people every day and, with rising inflation and increasing costs, we expect that total to rise significantly as the year progresses. Both my and Claire’s experience and expertise, will further strengthen our management team at a time when our services have never been more important.”
