More than three quarters (76.4%) of UK professionals intend to look for a new job in 2022 with over half (57.6%) looking to re-skill

 The latest survey from the UK’s leading independent job board, CV-Library, reveals that ‘The Great Resignation’ is set to continue with a whopping 76.4% of UK professionals surveyed reporting that they intend to look for a new role in 2022.  

A further 57.6% plan to reskill or retrain next year. The driving factor is the belief it will make them more employable, with the desire for a more meaningful career, better long-term job security and being unable to find a suitable job with their current skills, the other main factors in choosing to re-skill. 

The top five reasons for moving on in 2022 were as follows*: 

  1. 42.1% Want/need a career change 
  2. 41.3% Higher salary  
  3. 40.7% The uncertainty of the pandemic delayed an inevitable decision 
  4. 38.9% More flexible working opportunities 
  5. 33.2% Burnout 

Almost half (47%) revealed that they know someone who has already resigned in 2021 and with the pattern looking set to increase further in 2022, we asked the 2,000 respondents for the main area’s employers should focus upon to ensure that they don’t lose their best staff 2022*: 

  1. 57.3% Offer top salaries 
  2. 41.9% Investing in training and upskilling for staff 
  3. 35.3% Offer remote working opportunities 
  4. 25.2% Providing an effective team/great colleagues to work with 
  5. 24.6% Excellent managers
