Young Carers Receive Christmas Cheer From Ashville Pre-Prep School

Young carers from across the local area will receive a welcome dose of Christmas cheer and charity, thanks to a Harrogate school.

Once again Ashville Pre-Prep School has supported the Young Carers Charity by asking its pupils and parents to donate gifts for youngsters aged between seven and 12 who act as carers.

Scores of presents – which were left under the school’s Christmas tree and labelled for either a boy or girl – have now been collected by charity representatives, who in turn will deliver them to recipients located in Harrogate, Knaresborough and Ripon.

Whilst Christmas is a time for family and relaxation, for many young carers the holiday can still be a stressful period as they continue aiding disabled or ill family members.

Ashville Pre-Prep School headteacher Carol Berrie said:

“Once again, our parents and pupils have responded superbly and 89 children will receive a gift this Christmas.

“This is the fifth year running that we have supported Young Carers, and we hope to continue this Christmas tradition for many years to come.”
